Plan for College and Career Readiness (PCCR)

The Plan for College and Career Readiness process is a comprehensive approach to individual student planning in which school counselors coordinate ongoing activities to help students establish personal goals and develop future plans. School counselors help students make successful transitions from grade level to grade level, set future goals (including selecting college and career pathways), and establish career literacy.

7th Grade: In 7th grade, students are enrolled in College Career Awareness (CCA) classes which provide students with the direction, decision making, and planning needed to select their personal career paths. College and Career Awareness is an important part of a student's preparation in becoming college and career ready. Students use tools like Major Clarity and Keys to Success to explore their career interests. Students participate in counselor-led classroom lessons and a small group PCCR in their College and Career Awareness classes. Parents/guardians participate in the PCCR through a discussion at home with the student about their future academic and career goals.

8th Grade: During the Spring of their 8th grade year, students and parents/guardians will have an individual Plan for College and Career Readiness meeting with the school counselor. In this meeting we discuss 9th grade schedule requirements and registration, graduation requirements, CTE Pathways, scholarship information, and create a 4 year plan. 8th grade is full of career exploration activities such as the Job Shadow, Natural Resources Career Fair, CTE day at the high school, and Reality Town.
