It is expected that the school employees of South Sanpete School District will maintain standards of excellence in the areas of dress and grooming. These standards are intended to encourage each employee to dress in a neat, clean and modest manner, so as to model a positive example for students. The following standards are established as guidelines for all employees.
1. Employees in their grooming and clothing are to be clean, neat and modest.
a. Well groomed beards and mustaches are allowed.
b. The clothing shall be appropriate role-modeling for students.
c. The clothing shall promote a working and learning environment that is free from unnecessary disruption.
d. The clothing is conducive to high student and staff performance.
e. The clothing will invoke a positive impression from the community.
f. Shorts and sweats are prohibited except as authorized in guideline #2.
2. A level of dress shall be maintained which is consistent and appropriate with the type of position, job assignment, and activities of said employee.
a. Fads and extremes in dress and grooming are prohibited.
b. Grubby clothing of any kind is prohibited.
Adherence to these dress and grooming guidelines is the responsibility of each employee. The regulation of these standards is the responsibility of the school administrator and then the District administrator. Cross Reference: Policy GBC
