Council members not in attendance:  NA

The meeting took place at 3:30 in the Ephraim Elementary conference room.

  1. Welcome: Andy Bahlmann welcomed everyone to the meeting. He then turned the time over to Mr. Jones to discuss the current years use of funds.
  2. Digital Citizenship papers were handed out and gone over with the SCC. Two members suggested having a training at the school to cover the most current and relevant safety concerns that parents should be aware of when their children are online.
  3. Preliminary discussion was opened up concerning the use of funds for the 2017-18 Trust Lands plan. It was agreed that using the majority toward paraprofessionals, technology, and professional development was still a good idea, but we would revisit this at a later date. Mr. Jones wanted all members to know that their ideas and suggestions were valued and appreciated.
  4. The council discussed changing the spelling bee from a whole school format to a classroom format that would be done in classrooms. This gives the opportunity to have 12 different classroom winners while lowering the students stress level and increasing instructional time. The council voted unanimously to change the format.
  5. The Halloween parade was also discussed. Mr. Jones wanted the SCC members opinions concerning trying to move the parade indoors on a bad weather day. He brought up the challenges of parking and fitting everyone in the gym. The SCC voted unanimously to cancel the parade if it could not be held outside.
  6. Agenda items, meeting date, time and place were discussed for the meeting on January 12th. Next meeting will take place on January 12th at 3:30. The council will be going into further detail concerning the plan for the 2017-18 school year.
