Ephraim Elementary School Community Council Meeting

MINUTES

 

Council members in attendance:  Principal Gannon Jones Teacher: Billie Cox Parents: Stephanie Barton, Danni Larsen, Becky Woods, Jeanine Mack

Council members not in attendance:  NA

The meeting took place at 3:30 p.m. in the Ephraim Elementary conference room.

Welcome: Mr. Jones welcomed everyone to the meeting and introduced all the members. (Stephanie Barton, Dani Larsen, Jeanine Mack (new), Becky Woods, Billie k Cox)

  • School LAND trust program -Appropriate Expenditure check-list explained and reviewed. Items that the trust lands went to are the Refocus room and the certified behavior technician, Ariann Christensen, reviewed and explained. EEL Program updated and expanded to meet the current needs. Checklists of responsibilities were gone over and all SCC members were given handouts defining their different responsibilities along with the rules and procedures for SCC meetings.
  • New officers were elected for the new year. Becky Woods was elected as the new SCC Chair and Stephanie Barton as the new SCC Vice Chair. A motion was stated by Stephanie Barton and seconded by Dani Larsen.  The vote was unanimous.
  • Jones explained where the money can and can’t go with trust land money. We reviewed the budget summary from last year and the anticipated budget path for the current year. He summarized the parliamentary procedures and community council compliance checklist.
  • The current 2020-21 school wide plan was reviewed. Lexia, IReady, IXL, ALEKS programs were discussed. Vote on this in November.
  • All members then went over the School Improvement Plan, Reading Improvement Plan, Professional Development Plan, and the Emergency Preparedness Plan for the 2020-21 school year. All members had a chance to read each document and comment on the contents. All documents were voted on and passed unanimously last year. COVID precautions in the school were discussed and explained.
  • Ephraim Elementary emergency response plan.
  • Ephraim Elementary landscape plan was discussed with the 21 dead trees and unruly landscape and potential options.
  • Agenda items, meeting date, time and place were discussed for the meeting on November 19th. Next meeting will take place on November 19th at 3:30pm.
