Ephraim Elementary Community Council Minutes

January 17, 2023

Attending:  Robbie Chaney, Gannon Jones, Cora Lee Wayman, Jamie Nielsen

1. Paraprofessionals has been the majority of the use of funds. We are tracking right where we should be. Rural Schools is in Price this coming year. Majority of professional development funds will be used for that for this conference.

2. Really Great Reading program (RGR) is going well in K-2.  We did not implement RGR in third because those students have had a different program in grades K-2. It will be $6,200 for 3rd grade to get all the things they need for next year. The teachers love it.

3. Next year foundational Trust Lands plan discussion. Most of the money for paraprofessional. Technology also takes a big chunk of the money. Looked at the reading data and discussed using some of the funds to purchase RGR student workbooks for next year. Also use funds for teacher professional development and field trips.

4. DIBELS currently going for all the grades. 5th finished and looked good.

5. We did a training on Jan 3rd. Good training for narrowing down the essential standards. We came up with a list of essential skills that each student needs to know when they leave at each grade level.

6. We hired a behavior technician, Rachel Moosman- there are IEPs that need more specific behavior problem help.  This person will help make behavior plans and work with students on specific behavior skills that they need to be successful in the classroom. Rachel will receive training and take a behavior course to become a certified behavior technician. Sandra Summers is still our refocus coordinator. 

7. Waterford parent night- Sent out text and put in the paper. This is for students ages 3-5 who have not entered kindergarten. Excellent free online reading program. Good resource for preschool kids.

8. Readasaurus’ Birthday coming up on the last Friday of the month.

9. PTC- February 9th and 10th.

10. Meeting adjourned. Next meeting to be held on March 7th. We will finalize next year’s plan during this meeting.
