October 17, 2023 - 3:00 p.m.

Attendance: Gannon Jones, Malaree Parry (Subbing for Lori Wegener), Kristen Weller, Jessica Gordon, Kira Cox


Welcome: Gannon Jones

  • One of the main goals of community council is to create and approve a plan for TrustLands money

School Community Council Responsibilities

  • Reason for CC

  • Develop school plans

  • These are open to any community members
  • All this information is on our website

Review of Ephraim Elementary School Community Council Rules of Order and Procedures

  • Minutes are kept at meeting
  • The council consists of the principal, school employees, and parent members.
  • Voting for chair and co-chair
    • Robby Cheney voted in as chair by all in attendance
    • Kristen Weller voted in as co-chair by all in attendance
  • Voting is done by simple majority
  • Votes must pass by 2/3

School LAND Trust Program- Appropriate Expenditures

  • Critical academic needs
  • Action needed to meet needs
  • Increase achievement in English, language arts, mathematics, and science
  • Can’t be used for construction, maintenance, facilities, overhead, furniture, security, or athletics

Report Card

  • Did well on RISE
  • Did well on Reading- 80% growth, state requires 60% growth
  • Trying to improve ELL growth
    • Time Kettle & Say Hi
    • Discovering ways to help students
    • 2 part-time ELL paras and 1 full-time ELL para
    • WIDA test improvement

Emergency Preparedness and Response Plan

  • Review of required drills: fire, lockdown, lockout, earthquake
  • Always looking to improve the safety of our school
  • SRO, Jeff McQuivey. He is part-time with our school and the middle school

Digital Citizenship

  • This will be built into our rotations
  • Norms and responsible behavior related to technology use
  • Provided by Common Sense Media

Wellness Policy

  • Provided a few minutes to read through it
  • Asked if there are any questions

EES Trustlands Breakdown

  • Reviewed the totals and explained what the money was applied to within the school
  • Trustlands have been completed for this year– An amendment can be made if we wanted to
