Minutes:
Welcome and meeting called to order @ 3:05pm, by Kaycie.

Introduction of new members by John Gillett. Welcome to Amy Rasmussen and Mark Willey.

Mr. Gillett talked about Key Dates, Training and Resources available for members to do their training. Each member must complete at least one training.

Rules of Order and Procedure were discussed. A motion was made by Amy Rasmussen to add conflict of interest to the existing Rules of Order and Procedures. Tresa Hanks seconded the motion and all members voted unanimously.

A motion to elect Mark Willey as the new Vice Chair was made by Tresa Hanks. Amy Rasmussen seconded the motion. Unanimous by all members

Minutes for the March 26, 2025 EMS SCC meeting were approved by council members. Tresa Hanks made a motion to approve them, with Kaycie Sorensen seconding the motion for the approval of the March 26, 2025 EMS School Community Council minutes. All members were in agreement and voted unanimously.

South Sanpete Wellness Scorecard was addressed and gone over. Ephraim Middle School is participating and is in compliance with each of the items.

John Gillett talked about the School Community Council Timeline. Information that will be addressed at each meeting (month by month). The next meeting will be Wednesday, November 19, 2025 at 3:00 pm in the Ephraim Middle School Library.

John Gillett reviewed last year's RISE scores. Science and Math scores showed improvement and the school is waiting on the English scores still. But overall EMS is showing improvements.

Review of the EMS 2024-25 School Land Trust Plan for end of year report was gone over by John Gillett. Please see the above link to see the plan.

The current EMS 2025-26 School Land Trust Plan was presented and John Gillett asked members to please look at it on their own time. It is very similar to the previous year’s plan.

John Gillett reviewed with the council members the EMS 2025-26 TSSA Plan Goals and allocation spreadsheet where the funds were being allocated. He also explained the differences between Trust Lands and TSSA funds.

Kaycie Sorenson asked the council members if they had any ideas for 2026-27 School Trust Lands Plan. Amy Rasmussen asked about helping students succeed with basic needs and executive functioning. Such as, but not limited to: transitioning, organizing, setting kids up for success.

John Gillett Proposed SCC meeting Schedule for 2025-26 school year. Amy Rasmussen made a motion to approve the School Community Council Meeting Schedule for the 2025-26 school year. Mark Willey seconded the motion, and all members were in favor with a unanimous vote.

Questions/Concerns: Teacher member Carolyn Smith said she would talk with our new 6th grade math teacher and the math department about any additional needs that they might have.

Amy Rasmussen made a motion to adjourn the meeting @ 4:36pm and meet again on Wednesday, November 19th @ 3 pm in the EMS Library. The motion was seconded by Tresa Hanks. Unanimous by all members.
