EMS Community Council Minutes (Draft)

Minutes:
1. Welcome and meeting called to order @ 3:10 p.m. by Kaycie Sorenson
2. John Willey motioned to approve minutes from the previous meeting which was held 10.14.25. Carolyn Smith seconded the motion and all members passed motion unanimously.
3. Mr. Gillett reminded everyone to watch Community Council Training if they hadn’t yet. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w5_pioqVoD4
4. A discussion was led by Mr. Gillett regarding school safety. All members agreed that having school doors locked during school hours is a great addition. Mr. Gillett mentioned concerns during school drop off and pick up and asked members to consider any solutions.
5. RISE Test Scores were reviewed. Mr. Gillett reported that EMS test results were higher than district and state percentages. All members were involved in the discussion and impressed with continuous improvement on test scores at EMS. Members expressed they want to continue support for teachers however they can through Trust Lands funding for classroom support.
Utah RISE
6. EMS TSSA Written Plan and EMS TSSA.xlsx were discussed. Members were leaning towards the same goals and plans as prior. They feel EMS teachers and students are heading in a good direction with results to back it up. More will be discussed on this topic at the next meeting.
7. Kaycie had to leave a few minutes early, so Mark Willey asked if there were any other questions or concerns. There wasn’t anything left to discuss so Mark made a motion to adjourn the meeting @ 4:35 p.m. Amy Rasmussen seconded the motion and all members passed. The next meeting is scheduled for February 5, 2026 at 3:00 p.m.
