Handbook

1. Accidents: When an accident occurs, please report at once to the teacher in charge, who will then report it to the principal and fill out an accident report form.

 2. Announcements: If you wish to have an announcement made regarding school activities, you must have the announcement initialed by the teacher or advisor. They must be turned in to the Librarian by 8:00 a.m. This policy includes faculty and student announcements.

 3. Fire Drill: The alarm for fire is a unique fire siren. At the sounding of the alarm, the building will be evacuated immediately. Students should file out quickly and in an orderly fashion. Teachers will discuss the evacuation procedures at the beginning of the school year in all classes so that students are familiar with routes and procedures from any point in any of the buildings.

Special Note: It is a misdemeanor to set off a false alarm. Charges will be filed against any person so doing, plus suspension from school.

 4. Posters: The school has the right to remove offensive or inappropriate posters. Do not attach posters to pointed walls or windows. It is understood that all signs posted will be taken down after a reasonable length of time.

 5. Student-body Cards: Student-body cards are issued when students pay their fees. Cards are required for all student activities and must be shown for admittance. Lost cards may be replaced for $10.00. Student fees pay for our activity programs and cards are a substantial savings over individual admission costs.

 6. Use of School Buildings: Students may not use the buildings or facilities before or after school hours (7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday) unless accompanied and supervised by a teacher. Groups planning to use the gym, shop, auditorium, lights, sound system, stage props, or other facilities should arrange to do so through the faculty advisor and must use them under his direction.  If the building is open and a student can gain access, it does not give him or her the right to do so any more than it would give him or her the right to enter a private home if it were not locked or properly secured. Unauthorized people in the building will be treated as breaking and entering.

7. Textbooks: There will be a $20.00 book rental for every student enrolled, not just those students using books.

8. Telephones: We do not have enough lines for student-home traffic unless the call is requested by school personnel. Messages and deliveries from home should be left in the office. Students will be called out of class only in an emergency. A phone is available in the foyer for student use BETWEEN classes. Cell phones will not be allowed in the school during regular school hours.

 9. Lockers: Valuables other than books should not be kept in the school lockers. Private padlocks must not be used. Lockers are rented to the students. The administration reserves the right for periodical checks. Do not give your combination to anyone! Theft from lockers is difficult to prevent and we recommend not bringing valuable items to school.

 10. Substitute Teachers: Our school is fortunate in having capable people to help us whenever our regular teachers are ill. A substitute teacher is an important visitor whose impressions of our school will be carried into the community. Let us be certain that these are good impressions by being polite, helpful and considerate, as you would be to your regular teacher.

 11. Student Valuables: Students are cautioned not to bring large amounts of money, radios or cameras to school, and if they wear glasses or watches, to keep track of them at all times. Students, not the school, are responsible for their personal property. If it is necessary to bring more money than needed to pay for lunch, leave it at the office for safe keeping. Do not leave it in your locker.
