People In attendance - Jennifer Quarnberg, Travis Good, Paula Tippets, Tomica Boehrer, Aaron Smith, Amy Rasmussen, Roxanne DeBiasis, & Kris Pogroszewski.

Welcome

Election of vice-chair - The council had nominated Kris Progroszewski for vice chair but it needs to be a parent.  Tomica Boehrer put into motion and nominated Jennifer Quarnberg for Vice Chair. Motion was seconded by Travis Good. Jennifer Quarnberg accepted the nomination.  Vote was unanimous for Jennifer Quarberg as Vice Chair.  

Approve minutes - Jennifer Quarnberg makes motion to approve the minutes from October 2020.  Tomic Boehrer 2nd the motion.  Vote was unanimous.    

Discuss ACT and WIDA results 2019-2020 - Council discussed the ESL students and were pleased with the support that the ESL students are getting. Sarah Gibbs is the ESL instructor for Manti High School - she supports them in English as a second language.  Sara provided testing data for the ELL students and the data from the WIDA test.  It shows that their scores have gone up.  They are being tested in writing, oral language, literacy, and comprehension.  Trustlands is used to pay Sarah’s salary.  

ACT- Council discussed the ACT scores from spring of 2020. The data is showing students who are College Reportable.  English teacher Aaron Smith provided insight on how he is preparing his students for the ACT.  He tested the students and found out what the students don’t know and has based his curriculum on that.  Mr. Smith has had positive results and they have increased their scores tremendously.  

Trustland Expenditure 2020-21 Council looked over and discussed last year’s expenditures.    

What are the needs next year- Council discussed possible ways of spending Trustland money (assessment data driven):

Leader in me 

Computers

iPads

Professional development

Paraprofessional

Purchasing teacher prep periods

Social and emotional 

COVID Updates -  Event attendance: Each student/athlete is allowed 4 tickets per event/game.  

Vaccinations - all staff/employees will be offered the vaccinations at the end of the month.  

School updates:  CTE will be getting a self sufficient greenhouse.  Ephraim city received COVID money and has donated some of that money to Manti high school.  Drinking fountains bathrooms have been upgraded.  Sound enhancement will be added. Motivational thoughts in the bathrooms.  

Safety drills -  Safety drills are not required until March 2020.  The teachers are taking time in class to keep the students informed on safety procedures.  

Digital Citizenship - The January topic for digital citizenship is “why is digital Citizenship important? Being safe with technology.

Next meeting will be held on March,1st 2021.  Council will discuss and finalize how we will spend our Trustland budget for the next school year.
