Manti High School Community Council Meeting Minutes
October 13, 2021

In Attendance:

Amy Rasmussen, Paula Tippetts, Tyra Taylor, Rachel Lundeberg,Tresa Hanks, Aaron Smith, Kris Pogroszewski, Mandi Thomas, Karen Soper,  Belinda Osborn, (secretary)

Welcome

Introduction of new members:

Tyra Taylor, Rachel Lundeberg, Tresa Hanks, and Mandi Thomas

Council discussed rules of order and procedures. 

Reviewed purpose and roles of committee members.

Election of Chair and Vice Chair:

Paula Tippetts motioned that Tresa Hanks be elected as the Manti High School Community Council Chair representative.  Rachel Lundeberg second the motion.

Tresa Hanks put into motion that Paula Tippetts be elected as the Manti High School Community. Council Vice Chair Representative.   Kris Pogroszewski second the motion. 

MHS Website
             Karen Soper reviewed Manti High School website – All information will be posted by law on the website. Community Council minutes, plan, agenda’s and contact information for council members will be available. 

Review of Safety Procedures:
             Drills will happen during the year.
            Drug sniffing dogs will take place 2 times this school year.
            Kenny has trained all staff on safety procedures.
            Staff has FCC radios.
            Digital Citizenship is taught monthly.
             Counselors go into classes and teach mental wellness.
             Explanation of the mental health team.

Council discussed the proposed meeting dates; January 19, 2022, March 16, 2022, & April 20, 2022.   These dates were approved.

Trustland Plan
            59,000. Para/people
            10,000. Professional Development
            50,000. To help renew technology labs – We have 4 labs.
            12,000. Leader in Me curriculum

TSSA (Teacher and student success act) 34,000.
            Did not meet the ACT goal. Purchased IXL math/English for 9th, 10th, 11th graders.

Items from Council Members:
* Devious Licks is a viral 2021 TikTok trend in which students post videos of themselves stealing, vandalizing or showing off item they sole from schools. Parent will be sent information on Devious Lick. All acts can be charged with a misdemeanor.
* Leadership Summit – UHSAA was held at snow. 5 boys and 5 girls from our school attended. It was very successful.
* Concurrent enrollment - 218 students are currently taking 429 IVC classes.
* Regents Scholarship is now an Opportunity scholarship. Students need a college math, college science, and college English class.
* Our school accreditation is due this year. The review will be in January 2022. They will be looking at data, our vision, and purpose.

Our next community council meeting will be held January 19, 2021 at 3:00pm.  All are welcome.
