Beginning of the Year - Trust Lands Information (2024)

Parents of GVHS students, you are all invited to join our school community council. We need your help and value your input.  All Meetings for the 23-24 school year are held at GVHS on the following dates: Oct. 16, Jan. 8, Feb 25, and Apr. 15. We can add meetings if the committee feels it is necessary. We currently try to meet quarterly to go over data on how the current trustlands plan is being implemented and discuss different ideas for next year's plan.

GVHS received $71,813.44 to support the LAND TRUST committee's plan for GVHS. Our current plan can be viewed at the following link:

Gunnison Valley High School

School Improvement Plan 2022-23

The school improvement plan is derived from the AdvancEd/eprove Accreditation program, district goals and current needs of our students.   Gunnison Valley High is currently in our second year of the AdvancEd Accreditation and will be revisiting those goals and processes for next year.  Areas of concern will be found and an action plan will be formulated.   Over the course of five years, the original goals of the accreditation will be visited and altered to meet the current needs.  The accreditation team recommendations have been followed.   In addition to the needs listed below, attached is our action plan from our accreditation review. The action plan acts as an outline for our long term goals.

School Critical Needs:

  •       Improve Aspire+ Scores from year to year.
  •       Improve ACT scores.
  •       Career and College Readiness: Address needs for preparation for ACT prep and testing.  Focus on college instructor and internship connections as they relate to preparing our students to enter the next phase of their life.

School wide:

  •       Reading Initiative within all subjects. We will continue to add physical books and ebooks to both the library and classrooms to increase reading within the school.
  •       Bi-monthly ideas with an emphasis on PCBL, that can apply to all subjects.
  •       Department PLC will meet regularly in collaboration groups.
  •       Continue to develop Personal Learning Communities.

Teachers:

  •       Teachers will provide a paid professional hour plan at the first of the school year that outlines their personal professional development.
  •       Evaluate Aspire+/CTE/ACT results:
  •       All teachers will receive opportunities for improvement through the accreditation process.
  •       All teachers will read “Evolving Education” and discuss what we have read in faculty meetings.
  •       Reading will be emphasized especially with our ELL students.

Goals:

Goal #1- Develop ownership in their future through classwork, attendance and preparing for college.

Goal #2- Utilize Canvas Tools as an effective way to implement PCBL

Goal #3- Improve career and college readiness.

Teacher Input- Teachers will log any activities related to the school goals.
