Definitions-

Intern: And individual who does not hold a bachelor's degree enrolled in a program with an accredited college or university seeking a degree and teaching certificate

Interns will-

  1. Be paid at the rate of 5/8 of a teacher’s base salary of a beginning teacher;
  2. Receive insurance benefits as if they were a regular teacher;
  3. Receive retirement benefits according to URS guidelines;
  4. Receive up to 4 days of Professional Development (Teacher Quality Days);
  5. Receive 7 days of professional staff leave (sick days); and
  6. Not receive a year’s credit on the salary schedule toward tenure
Intern teachers will receive a contract reflection a full year's compensation as an intern. If the educator completes the degree they can submit official transcripts too the District Office showing the date the degree was awarded. The contract will be updated to reflect the respective lane and step the educator qualifies for. Additional leave days and Quality Teaching days will be awarded on a pro-rated basis.
