Attendance areas for the various schools of the district shall be drawn up by the administration and approved by the Board. These shall take into account school capacity, transportation considerations, and such other factors as are deemed appropriate.

Until changed by official action of the Board of Education, the attendance areas in the South Sanpete School District shall be established as follows:

A. All children in Grades K-5 who reside in the communities of Mayfield, Fayette, Gunnison, Centerfield, and Axtell or the area south and west of the junction of U.S. Highway 89 and Utah Highway 132 shall attend the Gunnison Valley Elementary School.

B. All children in Grades 6-8 who reside in the communities of the area mentioned in item (A), shall attend the Gunnison Valley Middle School.

C. All children in Grades 9-12 who reside in the communities or area mentioned in Item (A), shall attend the Gunnison Valley High School.

D. All children in Grades K-5 residing in the cities of Manti and Sterling shall attend the Manti Elementary School.

E. All children in Grades K-5 residing in Ephraim shall attend the Ephraim Elementary School.

F. All students in Grades 6-8 residing in areas of the South Sanpete School District not mentioned in Item (A) shall attend the Ephraim Middle School.

G. All students in Grades 9-12 residing in areas of the South Sanpete School District not mentioned in Item (A) shall attend the Manti High School.

H. Children who reside in outlying areas within South Sanpete School District's attendance boundaries would normally be expected to attend those school(s) closest to their homes.

Parents or guardians of students who live within District boundaries may make application for their children to attend any school in the South Sanpete School District in accordance with District Policy JECB; however, this may not be the case with Special Education students because space may be limited. If permission is granted for a student to attend another school, transportation becomes the responsibility of the parent or guardian.

Students whose parents are teachers of the District shall have the option to attend either the school(s) located in their attendance area
