Philosophy
The purposes of this policy is to provide guidance and direction on payroll related items for the District.
Policy
Regular Payroll
Payroll for the District will be paid once per month on the last business day of each month regardless of whether school is in session or not.
Extra-Curricular Payroll
There will also be periodic mid-month payrolls for extra-curricular assignments that will happen throughout the year.
All payroll will be made via direct deposit.
The Board delegates the authority to the Superintendent or Business Administrator to make an exception to this Policy for extenuating circumstances.
Payroll Deductions
The South Sanpete School District will offer payroll deductions for employees with the following understandings and conditions:
- The District shall not advise or select plans or companies for its employees to shelter their income with, and accepts no responsibility for their performance or results. The fact that a program is allowed as a payroll deduction cannot be construed as the District's endorsement of its merits.
- No new programs can be admitted unless at least 10 employees sign up initially and it offers a significant feature not available in the programs already offered.
- If an existing program has employee membership that drops below 10 employees the District may opt to discontinue that payroll deduction option.
- An employee can adjust their payroll deduction at any time during the year for the purpose of entering or leaving a tax shelter program.
- All payroll deduction options must be approved by the Superintendent and Business Administrator.
